Urvil Patel showcased his exceptional batting skills by scoring an unbeaten 115 off just 41 balls against Uttarakhand in the Sued Mushtaq Ali trophy tournament. This remarkable innings helped Gujarat secure their fifth consecutive win. Patel’s performance left all 10 IPL franchises regretting their decision as he smashed his second consecutive T20 century.
Urvil’s blitzkrieg knock included eight boundaries and 11 sixes, propelling Gujarat to victory in the match. His feat came just days after he broke Rishabh Pant’s six-year-old record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian. Patel achieved this milestone by scoring a 28-ball century in a previous match at the same venue in Indore, helping Gujarat chase down 156 runs against Tripura in just 10.2 overs.
Despite going unsold at the IPL mega auction last month, Urvil became the first cricketer to score two consecutive centuries in under 40 balls in the T20 format. The 26-year-old from Mehsana, Baroda, made his domestic cricket debut in 2018 and broke into First Class cricket during the 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season. He was previously part of the Gujarat Titans franchise in IPL 2023 but did not get a chance to play before being released.
Urvil Patel’s sensational batting display has garnered attention and admiration from cricket fans and experts alike. His consistent performances and record-breaking feats have established him as a rising star in Indian cricket. Fans can expect more fireworks from this talented cricketer as he continues to make a mark on the domestic circuit.
