Sajid Umar, an official of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and the Saharanpur District Cricket Association (SDCA) Treasurer, expressed admiration for Prashant Veer, a 20-year-old all-rounder from Shahjipur village. Prashant recently made headlines after being picked up by CSK for a whopping Rs. 14.20 crore in the IPL mini auction.

According to Umar, Prashant’s success will serve as a source of inspiration for other cricketers, especially those from rural areas. Coming from an underprivileged background, Prashant’s family relies on his father’s modest income as a school teacher and his grandfather’s pension.

Prashant’s cricket journey took a turn in 2018 when coach Rajiv Goyal recognized his talent and took him under his wing. SDCA Director Akram Saifi has also played a crucial role in nurturing Prashant’s skills.

Describing Prashant as a valuable asset, Umar likened him to Ravindra Jadeja and praised his ability to bowl in any phase of the game and excel as a finisher. In Saharanpur, Prashant is known as the “David Miller.”

Overall, Prashant’s rise in the cricketing world serves as a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. His story is a reminder that with perseverance, success is within reach for aspiring cricketers.
