Australian T20 star Tim David is set to join the Melbourne Stars for the next Big Bash season, with the franchise also showing interest in Perth all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. It is understood that David and the Stars have reached a verbal agreement, which would see him playing alongside players like Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in BBL|15. This would mark David’s third Big Bash club since his debut for the Perth Scorchers in 2018.
David, a middle-order big-hitter, played a dozen games for the Scorchers before moving to the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2020/21 season. With 63 games under his belt for the Hurricanes, David is now listed as a free agent by the club. Ironically, David is facing his potential future team tonight at the MCG in the Hurricanes’ final home-and-away match before the finals.
In addition to David, the Stars are also pursuing Australian captain Mitchell Marsh. While discussions with Marsh are still in the early stages, the franchise is optimistic about securing the white-ball powerhouse for the upcoming season. Marsh, who has been with the Perth Scorchers since the inception of the BBL, has a strong record in the league with 12 fifties and one hundred in 71 matches.
The BBL Player Movement Window opens on January 29 and closes on February 6, giving teams the opportunity to finalize their rosters for the next season. Fans can catch all the BBL action live and ad-break free on Kayo.
