Tejasvi Singh, a 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi, has made headlines by securing a spot in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team for IPL 2026. The young player was bought for a hefty sum of Rs 3 crore in the auction held on December 16, 2025. Tejasvi’s performance in six T20 matches where he scored a total of 113 runs at an impressive strike rate of 168.65 caught the attention of the KKR management.

KKR also made significant investments in other players during the auction. They splurged Rs 25.20 crore on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. Additionally, they acquired New Zealand’s Finn Allen for Rs 2 crore and Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana for Rs 18 crore.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made headlines by signing Uttar Pradesh’s Prashant Veer and Rajasthan’s Kartik Sharma for a whopping Rs 14.20 crore each, making them the joint most expensive uncapped players in IPL history. This move by CSK set a new benchmark in the league for uncapped players’ valuations.

Despite the buzz surrounding the auction, some notable players like Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Liam Livingstone remained unsold in the initial rounds. However, the auction saw South Africa’s David Miller being the first player to be sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore.

Overall, the IPL 2026 auction was a mix of surprises and big-money deals, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
