In a thrilling Big Bash League encounter, Sydney Sixers pulled off a remarkable chase against Melbourne Stars at the SCG. James Vince’s explosive century, scoring 101 off just 58 balls, led the Sixers to a comfortable victory with 11 balls to spare. Ben Duckett’s aggressive 68 off 29 balls for the Stars was overshadowed by Vince’s dominant display of power hitting.
The successful chase was the eighth largest in BBL history and the biggest ever at the SCG. Despite the Stars initially looking strong, with Duckett hitting six fours in an over, the Sixers managed to maintain their unbeaten streak. Glenn Maxwell’s quickfire 32 for the Stars was not enough as the Sixers’ power surge in the latter half of their innings, with Vince hitting four sixes and 12 boundaries in total, sealed the win.
Vince’s century, the second in Sixers’ colors, showcased his prowess with the bat and solidified the Sixers’ position at the top of the BBL standings. The Stars, on the other hand, remain winless after four games, with their finals hopes fading fast. The thrilling match entertained a crowd of 23,212 and highlighted the competitive nature of the BBL.
