Among them, Heinrich Klaasen, known as one of the top T20 batters worldwide, was retained for a whopping sum exceeding Rs 18 crore. Pat Cummins, who had a significant impact on the team’s performance last season and is the second most expensive player in IPL history, played a pivotal role in guiding the team to the final after a couple of disappointing seasons.
Teams are allowed to retain a maximum of six players with a total budget of Rs 120 crore allocated for both retention and the mega auction. They can retain up to five capped and two uncapped players following a 5+1 or 4+2 structure. Capped players fall into three price brackets ranging from Rs 18 crore to Rs 11 crore, while uncapped players can be retained for Rs 4 crore.
