Sunrisers Hyderabad, struggling in the IPL 2025 season with just three wins in nine matches, sent their players and support staff on a retreat to Maldives amidst their poor performance. The team, currently standing eighth in the points table, took this break before their upcoming game against Gujarat Titans. The trip was arranged after their recent victory against Chennai Super Kings. The players and staff are expected to return to India early next week and prepare for their match against Shubman Gill-led team on May 2.

The team’s coach, Daniel Vettori, credited the team’s bounce back against Chennai to strategic changes in the batting line-up and utilizing the skills of Kamindu Mendis. Vettori emphasized the importance of adapting to the challenging batting surfaces that have been a hindrance to SRH’s aggressive batting approach. The shuffle in the batting order, with Klaasen moving up and Nitish Reddy down, proved to be effective in achieving a more balanced approach in the chase. Mendis’ ability to play spin well and hit various shots was a key factor in SRH’s success against CSK. Vettori’s tactical decisions and the team’s adaptability were crucial in their victory.
