Hobart Hurricanes have been hit with major setbacks in their bowling attack, with Billy Stanlake ruled out of the rest of the BBL due to a fractured shoulder and Daniel Sams unable to play for Sydney Thunder after suffering a side strain alongside a concussion.

Stanlake sustained his injury while taking a diving catch at fine leg, attempting to bowl despite the pain before eventually walking off the field. Scans confirmed a fracture in his right scapula, keeping him out for the remainder of the tournament. Meanwhile, Sams, who had just recovered from a concussion, was diagnosed with a side strain that also rules him out of the BBL.

In response to these injuries, Hurricanes have made changes to their squad, signing Tim Ward as an injury replacement for Iain Carlisle and hoping for the return of Ben McDermott from a hamstring injury. While Chris Jordan missed a game due to a back issue, he is expected to be available for their upcoming match against Brisbane Heat.

Despite the setbacks, both Stanlake and Sams remain optimistic and grateful for the support they have received during their recovery processes.
