Eight South African players participating in the IPL are set to leave India by May 25 to prepare for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) are only valid until that date. The players include Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Tristan Stubbs, Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Corbin Bosch, Marco Jansen, and Wiaan Mulder.
They are expected to return to South Africa before the team’s departure to the UK on May 30, which means they will miss the IPL playoffs. Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in discussions about this situation.
National head coach Shukri Conrad emphasized that the May 25 deadline stands. The initial agreement was for the players to return on the 26th, allowing them enough time before the team flies out on the 30th. Discussions are ongoing between CSA and BCCI regarding this issue.
Conrad stated, “That is the ongoing conversations that are being had between people in a higher pay grade than I am – the director of cricket [Nkwe] and Pholetsi [Moselki, the CSA chief executive]. They’re dealing with that. We want our players back on the 26th and hopefully that comes to fruition.”
