Cricket South Africa (CSA) initially decided to send their World Test Championship (WTC) final-bound players to India for the IPL 2025, but later reversed their decision. They have negotiated with the IPL to have the players back by May 27 for the WTC final against Australia on June 11. Eight IPL-bound players were included in the South Africa Test squad for the WTC final.

CSA’s director Enoch Nkwe confirmed the players needed to return by May 26, but later corrected the date to June 3. The players will join the squad on May 27 and leave for London three days later. This decision will impact teams like Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals, who will miss key players for their playoff hopes.

Players like Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, and Marco Jansen will be crucial absences for their respective IPL teams. Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings will feel the absence of these players as they push for playoff spots. Overall, the negotiations between CSA and the IPL have caused a stir in the cricketing world ahead of the WTC final.
