Mangesh Yadav, a 23-year-old all-rounder from Pandhurna district in Madhya Pradesh, has been signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2026 season, led by Virat Kohli. Despite having a base price of Rs 30 lakh, he was eventually picked up for Rs 5 crore 20 lakh after intense bidding at the auction. Known for his pace, accuracy, and ability to consistently deliver yorkers in the death overs, Mangesh impressed scouts throughout the tournament.
Coming from a humble background with his father working as a truck driver, Mangesh’s selection in the IPL marks a significant turning point in his life and brings hope to his family. He decided to pursue cricket seriously after Class 12, moving to Noida to further his career. His hard work paid off when he became the highest wicket-taker in the Madhya Pradesh T20 League, claiming 14 wickets for the Gwalior Cheetahs.
Mangesh is also known for his humility, often giving away prize money to ground staff and keeping only the trophies as mementoes. Recently, he won a racing bicycle at a tournament and gifted it to the ground workers. Celebrations have erupted in Borgoan, located near Pandhurna, as the local boy prepares to join Virat Kohli and represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
