On December 16, 2025, Cameron Green made headlines by becoming the most expensive overseas player in IPL history when Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for a whopping Rs 25.20 crore. The 26-year-old Australian all-rounder, who has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, emerged victorious after a fierce bidding war with Chennai Super Kings. Green joins the elite club of players who have secured deals worth more than Rs 20 crore in the IPL.

The list includes Pat Cummins, the Australia’s 2023 WTC and 2023 ODI World Cup-winning team captain, who was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore in the IPL 2024 mini auction. Mitchell Starc, another legendary Australian left-arm pacer, earned Rs 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders in the same auction.

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer fetched Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega auction, where he was also appointed as captain and led the team to the final. Rishabh Pant holds the record for being the most expensive player in IPL history, having been signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the same auction.

Venkatesh Iyer, the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder, secured a Rs 23.75 crore deal with Kolkata Knight Riders in the same auction. South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 23 crore, while Virat Kohli was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 21 crore. Lastly, former West Indies T20I captain Nicholas Pooran was also retained by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 21 crore.
