Sherfane Rutherford, a West Indies cricketer, has been traded to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Rutherford was initially bought by the Titans for Rs. 2.6 crore but has now moved to Mumbai Indians for his current fee. The left-handed batter had a successful season with Gujarat Titans, playing 13 matches and scoring 291 runs with an impressive strike rate of 157.29.

This isn’t Rutherford’s first stint in the IPL, as he has previously played for Delhi Capitals in 2019 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022. He was also part of the Mumbai Indians squad in 2020 and Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024, although he didn’t get the chance to feature in the playing XI during those seasons.

Rutherford has represented West Indies in 44 T20Is, scoring 588 runs at a strike rate of 137.38. He has also taken two wickets with his right-arm medium pace bowling. Despite not being a regular bowler, Rutherford’s all-round skills make him a valuable asset to any team.

The Mumbai Indians have been active in the transfer market, having recently signed India all-rounder Shardul Thakur as well. Rutherford’s addition adds depth to their batting lineup and provides them with another versatile option. The upcoming IPL season promises to be an exciting one with these new acquisitions.

The news of Rutherford’s trade to Mumbai Indians was announced on November 13, 2025.
