Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Shardul Thakur had a tough moment in an IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. In the 13th over of the second innings, Shardul bowled five wides in a row while trying to avoid KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane’s hitting zone. The final wide delivery was almost within Rahane’s reach, but Shardul’s appeal for a review was denied by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant.

Despite the wides, Shardul stayed focused on his plan to bowl wide of the stumps. He eventually managed to dismiss Rahane by getting him caught at covers. This over from Shardul lasted 11 balls, making it one of the joint longest overs in IPL history along with Mohammed Siraj (vs MI, Bengaluru, 2023) and Tushar Deshpande (vs LSG, Chennai, 2023).

Shardul’s rollercoaster of emotions during this over was captured in a tweet, showing his journey from frustration to a smile as he finally got the breakthrough. It was a memorable moment for Shardul, who was playing his 100th IPL game. Despite the wides, his determination and persistence paid off in the end.
