Shaheen Shah Afridi had a tough debut in the BBL, only bowling 16 legal deliveries and finishing with figures of 0-43. He was even thrown out mid-over for dangerous bowling. Despite a decent first over, his performance deteriorated in the power surge, with a six and two fours proving costly. Afridi’s nightmare continued in his third over, with multiple hip high no balls leading to his removal from the attack. The umpire decided to end his night early, leaving with a final over scorecard of 6-1-3Nb-1-2Nb-1-3Nb.

Afridi also struggled with the bat, getting bowled for a duck after two swings and misses. Commentators Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan noted the dangerous nature of his deliveries, leading to his exclusion from the match. It was a disappointing start for the highly anticipated recruit in the BBL.
