Former India player Virender Sehwag recently criticized Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone for their lack of effort and commitment in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Sehwag accused the pair of treating the IPL as a holiday and not showing enough determination to perform for their teams. This is not the first time Sehwag and Maxwell have clashed, as their beef dates back to the 2017 IPL season when Maxwell was the captain of Punjab and Sehwag was the mentor. Maxwell revealed in his book that Sehwag had a dictatorial approach and made all the major decisions without consulting the coaching staff. Their relationship soured further after Punjab missed the playoffs and Sehwag publicly criticized Maxwell, leading to a fallout between the two. Maxwell expressed his disappointment with Sehwag’s behavior and the lack of communication between them ultimately led to Maxwell leaving Punjab after the 2017 season. Despite returning for a third stint with Punjab in 2025, Maxwell has once again failed to deliver on the field.
