Perth Scorchers defeated Brisbane Heat by 33 runs in a thrilling match at Optus Stadium. Nick Hobson’s unbeaten 47 off 16 balls helped Scorchers reach a total of 165 for 6. Brisbane Heat struggled to chase the target and were bowled out in the final over. Lance Morris’ rapid bowling and Scorchers’ disciplined fielding were instrumental in their victory. Finn Allen and Cooper Connolly made valuable contributions with the bat, while Aaron Hardie returned from injury to bolster the team’s middle order.
Spencer Johnson starred for Heat with a four-wicket haul, but their batters failed to handle the pace and bounce of the pitch. Colin Munro’s spinners, Matthew Kuhnemann and Mitchell Swepson, bowled with control to restrict the run rate. Morris impressed with his fiery spell, reaching speeds of 148 kph. Brilliant fielding from Ashton Agar and Finn Allen further enhanced Scorchers’ performance.
Despite brief resistance from Matthew Renshaw and Max Bryant, Heat fell short of the target. Renshaw’s aggressive innings of 36 off 24 balls was ended by Andrew Tye, while Bryant’s quickfire 35 went in vain. The victory halted Scorchers’ losing streak and handed Heat their first defeat of the season.
