Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw, both notable names who went unsold in last year’s IPL auction, have been included in the initial player list for the upcoming 2026 season auction. The auction is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Sarfaraz, who was part of India’s Test squad earlier this year, failed to attract any bids in the previous auction. Shaw, on the other hand, was dropped by Mumbai during the domestic season and was also overlooked by IPL teams. However, Shaw has since improved his form and fitness after moving to Maharashtra.

Both Sarfaraz and Shaw are part of the capped batsmen group in the auction, with a base price of Rs. 75 lakh. They are joined by players like Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, and David Miller, all of whom have a base price of Rs. 2 crore. Green is specifically listed as a batter for this auction.

The final auction list was released by the IPL authorities a week before the auction, comprising a total of 350 players, including 112 Indians and 238 overseas cricketers. The second set of players includes Venkatesh Iyer, released by Kolkata Knight Riders, with a base price of Rs. 2 crore, along with Deepak Hooda and five overseas allrounders.

Out of the 350 players, 40 have set their base price at Rs. 2 crore, while 227 uncapped domestic cricketers have entered at the lowest base price of Rs. 30 lakh. The auction promises to be an exciting event with a total of 77 slots available for players to be selected. The article was published on Dec 09, 2025.
