Samson was batting on 31 off 19 deliveries when he experienced pain on the left side of his torso while trying to pull a delivery from leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam. Despite being attended to by the team physio, Samson decided to walk off during the sixth over of the innings. At the time of his retirement hurt, the opening wicket partnership between Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal stood at 61 runs. Rajasthan Royals were chasing a target of 189 runs set by Delhi Capitals.
This was not the first time Samson faced injury concerns during the season. He had been recovering from a finger injury earlier in the season, which prevented him from taking on the wicketkeeping duties. As a result, Riyan Parag had led the Royals in the first three matches, winning one and losing two.
Despite Samson’s absence, Rajasthan Royals continued their chase against Delhi Capitals. The team had to rely on their remaining batsmen to make up for Samson’s absence and try to secure a victory in the match. Samson’s injury was a setback for the team, but they remained determined to put up a strong fight in his absence.
