The Rajasthan Royals franchise has raised concerns about the safety and infrastructure at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, their proposed home base for the upcoming IPL season. In a letter to the BCCI and IPL Governing Council, the franchise expressed willingness to play at the stadium, but only after receiving formal approval of the venue’s safety and compliance report. The franchise has highlighted major lapses in the stadium’s structural integrity and statutory compliance, urging the Board to address these issues before the start of the tournament.

Since June last year, the franchise has been in talks with the State Sports Council and the BCCI regarding the stadium’s safety concerns. A stadium audit report was submitted in January, revealing deficiencies in life safety measures and structural integrity. Despite hosting matches for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December, the stadium’s lack of fail-safe measures and basic facilities have been a cause for concern among spectators and participating teams.

The BCCI had previously warned the Rajasthan Cricket Association about the consequences of not conducting elections, which could impact the state’s ability to host IPL matches. With the RCA facing internal conflicts, the future of matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium remains uncertain. The BCCI is currently working to address the franchise’s concerns ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
