United Spirits Limited (USL) has announced that it is conducting a strategic review of its subsidiary, Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RSCPL), which owns the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchises. The review process is expected to be completed by March 31 next year.

Praveen Someshwar, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of United Spirits Limited, stated that while RCSPL has been a valuable asset for USL, it is non-core to the company’s alcoholic beverage business. This strategic review reflects USL’s and Diageo’s commitment to continuously evaluate their India enterprise portfolio to ensure long-term value for stakeholders, while also considering the best interests of RCSPL.

RCSPL is the owner of the RCB franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women’s Premier League. The men’s team secured its first IPL title in 2025, while the women’s team emerged victorious in the 2024 edition of the WPL.

Reports suggest that Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, is in discussions with Diageo regarding a potential acquisition of RCB.
