Australian T20 legend Dan Christian has made a comeback from retirement to help the Sydney Thunder in the BBL due to their injury woes. The 41-year-old allrounder last played for Sydney Sixers two years ago and has been serving as an assistant coach at Thunder. Despite not playing professionally since the BBL12 semi-final loss, Christian has been staying fit by playing for UNSW in the NSW Premier Cricket competition. He will join the likes of Brad Hodge, Peter Siddle, Fawad Ahmed, and the late Shane Warne in the elite club of players who have featured in the BBL in their 40s. Christian is available for the rest of the tournament, which has seen improvements from the reigning wooden spooners Thunder. Thunder has faced a mounting injury toll with players like Sams and Bancroft sidelined, leading to Christian’s return. Thunder’s general manager, Trent Copeland, expressed excitement about Christian’s return, calling him a legend of the BBL. Christian, known as a T20 specialist, has played for various teams across six different countries and represented Australia in white-ball cricket. He has won three BBL titles with Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Renegades, and Sydney Sixers.
