Melbourne Renegades secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes in a BBL match in Geelong. The Hurricanes were bowled out for their lowest BBL total of 74 runs, with Nathan Ellis top-scoring with 35. Renegades’ Tim Seifert played a crucial role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 37 as they reached the target in just nine overs.
The Hurricanes suffered a further setback as captain Matthew Wade sustained a calf injury and had to leave the field. Ben McDermott took over the wicketkeeping duties in his absence. Renegades’ bowlers, including Tom Rogers, Fergus O’Neill, and Will Sutherland, put in a strong performance to restrict the Hurricanes and secure the win.
This match marked the first BBL game in Geelong since a previous match was abandoned due to pitch conditions. Renegades now have a 1-1 record in the tournament, while Hurricanes will look to bounce back from their defeat when they face Perth Scorchers in their next match.
