A recent report by investment bank Houlihan Lokey reveals that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has experienced significant growth in both business and brand value this year. The League’s business value has increased by 13% to $18.5 billion, while its overall brand value has risen by 14% to nearly $4 billion.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has emerged as the most valuable franchise for the first time, surpassing long-time leaders Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. RCB’s brand value skyrocketed to $269 million after winning their first IPL title, attributed to strong on-field performances, a loyal fan base, and strategic branding efforts.

Despite a challenging season, Chennai Super Kings still maintain strong brand value due to fan loyalty and the presence of MS Dhoni. The report highlights that the IPL has evolved into a global entertainment brand, surpassing major leagues like the English Premier League and the NBA in profitability.

Global investors are increasingly showing interest in IPL teams as high-growth business opportunities. RCB’s 2025 title win signifies a shift in the league’s power dynamics, indicating a bright future for the IPL as a lucrative and popular sporting entity.
