In their first home match of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 169 for eight in 20 overs against Gujarat Titans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Although the venue is known for high-scoring games and is favorable for chasing teams, RCB has managed to successfully defend totals under 170 six times in the IPL at this ground. The last time they defended such a total was in 2019 when they defended 161 for seven against Chennai Super Kings.

Since the introduction of the Impact Player rule, the lowest successfully defended score at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is 174 for six, achieved by Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Delhi Capitals in 2023. Some of the lowest totals successfully defended at the stadium in the IPL include 138/7 by Kings XI Punjab against RCB in 2017, 156/8 by RCB against Deccan Chargers in 2008, 156/5 by RCB against Mumbai Indians in 2013, 157/8 by RCB against Delhi Daredevils in 2012, and 157/8 by RCB against Delhi Daredevils in 2017.

Despite the challenges of defending low totals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB has a history of successfully doing so and will be looking to replicate that success in their match against Gujarat Titans. The team will be relying on their bowlers to deliver a strong performance to defend their total and secure a victory in front of their home crowd.
