Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their winning streak on the road this season by defeating the Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The Royals’ homecoming was marred by a disappointing loss in front of their fans as RCB’s opening pair of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli set up the win with a strong partnership.
RCB dominated from the start, racing to 65 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. The Royals’ bowlers struggled to contain the RCB batsmen, and fielders dropped multiple catches, allowing RCB to capitalize on their mistakes. Salt, who was lucky to survive some close calls, scored a quick half-century while Kohli played the anchor role.
After Salt’s dismissal, Kohli accelerated his innings and reached his fifty off 32 balls with some big hits. Devdutt Padikkal provided valuable support with an unbeaten 40, guiding RCB to victory with an 83-run partnership with Kohli.
In the first innings, Royals’ openers Jaiswal and Samson struggled on the slow pitch, but Jaiswal managed to score 75 runs with some risky shots. Despite a solid partnership with Parag, the Royals lost momentum with their dismissals. Jurel’s late cameo helped the Royals post a respectable total, but it was not enough to challenge RCB’s strong batting lineup.
Overall, RCB’s dominant performance on the road once again proved their strength as they secured another convincing victory in the IPL.
