Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) announced that they will be playing five of their IPL 2026 home matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This decision was made after receiving approval from the Karnataka government, following a tragic incident last year where 11 people lost their lives in a stampede during RCB’s victory celebrations. The Chinnaswamy Stadium had not hosted any competitive cricket matches since then. RCB expressed their gratitude towards the government, Karnataka State Cricket Association, and Karnataka Police for their support in making these matches possible. CEO Rajesh Menon emphasized the importance of playing at their home ground and the energy that fans bring to the team. Additionally, two of RCB’s home matches will be held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur as per a prior commitment. The Chinnaswamy Stadium will also host the IPL opener on March 28, with the defending champions set to play in the first match of the season. This decision reflects the franchise’s commitment to their home supporters and their strong bond with the city of Bengaluru.
