Yash Dayal, a cricketer expected to play for Gorakhpur Lions in the UP T20 League, has been banned by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) due to sexual harassment and rape allegations. Dayal, a pacer for RCB, is facing charges in Ghaziabad and Jaipur, with the latter involving a minor victim accusing him of repeated rape over two years. The victim claimed Dayal emotionally blackmailed her with promises of a cricketing career, starting when she was just 17 years old. Despite being granted protection from arrest by the Allahabad High Court in the Ghaziabad case, the Jaipur High Court refused similar protection due to the involvement of a minor. Dayal’s next hearing is scheduled for August 22. He was purchased for ₹7 lakh by Gorakhpur Lions and has been a standout pacer, helping RCB win the IPL 2025 title. Dayal made his IPL debut in 2022 when GT bought him for ₹3.2 crores. The case has garnered significant attention in the cricketing world, raising concerns about player conduct and protection of minors in the sport.
