Virat Kohli, the longstanding face of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, has once again been retained by the franchise for a whopping Rs. 21 crore ahead of the 2025 mega auction. This marks an increase from his previous retention cost of Rs. 15 crore in 2022. Alongside Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal have also been retained, with Patidar fetching Rs. 11 crore and Dayal receiving Rs. 5 crore.
Kohli’s association with RCB has been a remarkable one, playing 252 matches and scoring an impressive 8,004 runs at an average of 38.66. Despite stepping down as captain in 2021, Kohli remains a vital part of the team and is rumored to potentially return as skipper for the upcoming season.
In the previous season, Kohli’s exceptional performance with the bat saw him clinch the prestigious Orange Cap after scoring 741 runs. His consistency and leadership have made him an indispensable asset for RCB, solidifying his status as one of the top players in the league.
