Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has taken legal action against Uber Moto in the Delhi High Court over an advertisement featuring Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Travis Head. The ad, titled “Baddies in Bengaluru ft. Travis Head – Uber Moto | Uber,” shows Head sneaking into the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB’s home venue, and spray painting “Royally Challenged” before Bengaluru. RCB’s advocate, Shwetasree Majumder, argued that the ad was attacking RCB and constituted disparagement. She questioned why Uber had to use RCB’s trademark and a player who was previously associated with the franchise. Uber Moto, on the other hand, claimed there was a fundamental issue with the lawsuit.

Justice Saurabh Banerjee heard arguments from both sides before deciding to reserve judgment on RCB’s plea for interim injunction. The ad has garnered almost 1.4 million views on YouTube. The case highlights the legal implications of using trademarks and former players in advertisements. Both RCB and Uber Moto presented their arguments in court, with RCB seeking to protect its brand and reputation. The outcome of the case will determine whether the ad featuring Travis Head will continue to be aired or if changes will be required to address RCB’s concerns.
