The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to resume after being suspended for a week due to tensions between India and Pakistan. The tournament will kick off with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat revealed that the franchise was keen to send players back home during the suspension, as they did not expect the conflict to be resolved so quickly. Overseas players were given the option to return home amidst the uncertainty.
Bobat described the chaotic atmosphere when the tournament was suspended, with the squad watching a game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals when tensions rose. Despite the uncertainty, RCB is currently in a strong position in the points table and is expected to qualify for the playoffs. Most overseas players have returned for the tournament resumption, with Josh Hazlewood expected to join soon. The franchise is focused on maintaining their performance and navigating through the challenges of the season.
