Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has no plans to own teams in other international cricket leagues, as stated by the franchise’s chief operating officer Rajesh Menon. Despite being a part of the original eight IPL teams since 2008, RCB is one of only two teams without ownership stakes in leagues outside India. While other IPL teams have invested in teams across countries like South Africa, the West Indies, the U.S., and the UAE, RCB is looking at expanding its brand through other avenues.
Menon mentioned that RCB is exploring opportunities to expand its merchandise range globally, including in countries like Australia, the U.S., and the U.K. through their bar and cafe. The franchise recently acquired the Bengaluru franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and signed Indian batter Smriti Mandhana for a record amount. Despite the women’s team’s success, the men’s team is yet to win an IPL trophy, despite reaching the playoffs multiple times.
RCB made changes to its squad in the 2025 auction, retaining key players like Virat Kohli and bringing in new additions like Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt. Menon expressed confidence in the team’s coaching staff and the overall squad, stating that they are well-prepared for the upcoming season. Despite past setbacks, RCB remains optimistic about their chances in the IPL and is focused on achieving success with their bold and fearless approach to the game.
