The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, once home to the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL matches, has now become a haunting memory for the team. Following a poorly planned trophy celebration after their IPL 2025 final victory, a stampede occurred, resulting in 11 deaths and numerous injuries. As a result, RCB has decided not to return to the stadium for IPL 2026 matches. Reports suggest that Raipur is a likely contender for their new home venue, with Indore also under consideration.
The tragic incident during the trophy celebration last year has left a lasting impact on RCB and its players, including Virat Kohli. The team’s social media team reportedly ignored warnings of the stampede during the live stream of the celebration. The Karnataka government acknowledged the mishap, offering compensation to the victims and promising to cover medical expenses.
In a similar vein, the Rajasthan Royals have moved their home venue to Pune due to conflicts with the Rajasthan Cricket Association, exacerbated by match-fixing allegations. The team denied the accusations, prompting the relocation.
