The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The schedule for the IPL 2025 season was recently announced, with the ten franchises divided into two groups. Mumbai Indians and RCB, known for their intense rivalry, will only face off once in this edition on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium.
The reason for this unique scheduling is the BCCI’s decision to limit the number of matches in the league to 74. Since the league expanded to 10 teams in 2022, not all teams play each other twice in the group stage. Instead, teams are divided into groups, with some facing each other twice and others only once.
The final of IPL 2025 will be held at Eden Gardens on May 25, with matches scheduled across 13 venues and featuring 12 double-headers. The season will also see teams playing at multiple venues, with Delhi Capitals playing in Visakhapatnam and Delhi, Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati and Jaipur, and Punjab Kings in Chandigarh and Dharamsala. Overall, IPL 2025 promises to be an exciting and action-packed season for cricket fans.
