Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan Royals, will miss the upcoming IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru due to injury. The team confirmed this news on Monday, stating that Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will not be traveling to Bengaluru for the match. He experienced abdominal pain during the game against Delhi Capitals and underwent scans, which led to him missing the home match against Lucknow Super Giants.
In Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag will lead the Royals. Samson had previously been unable to keep wickets in the first three matches of the season due to a fractured right index finger that required surgery. Riyan was appointed as the stand-in skipper during this time.
In the ongoing season, Samson has scored 224 runs in seven matches, with an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of over 140. He has also scored one half-century so far. The team will miss his leadership and batting prowess in the upcoming match against RCB.
Overall, Samson’s absence will be a blow to the Rajasthan Royals, but they will look to rally behind Riyan Parag and continue their campaign in the IPL.
