Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid sustained a foot injury while playing cricket in Bengaluru, just a week before the start of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The franchise reassured fans that the cricketing legend will rejoin their pre-season training camp on Wednesday. Dravid, who returned to the Royals in September 2024, was pictured with a cast on his left leg on social media. Despite his injury, he is expected to join the team in Jaipur for the upcoming season, which kicks off on March 22.
After retiring 13 years ago, Dravid made a rare competitive appearance last month for Vijaya Cricket Club in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group III league semifinal alongside his son, Anvay. He also participated in another match where his son impressed with a 60-ball 58. Dravid rejoined the Royals ahead of the mega auction last year and will work closely with Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara and captain Sanju Samson during the 18th IPL season. Samson expressed gratitude for Dravid’s mentorship and leadership, emphasizing the special captain-coach relationship they share.
