PBKS chose to bat first and scored 219/6, with Shashank Singh also contributing with a 36-ball 52 not out. CSK struggled in their chase, finishing on 201/5 despite Devon Conway’s 49-ball 69 and Shivam Dube’s 42 off 27. MS Dhoni’s late heroics were not enough as CSK fell short.
Arya, a player from west Delhi making his mark in his debut IPL season, played a stellar innings. He hit nine sixes and seven fours, forming a crucial partnership with Shashank. Arya’s century came off just 39 balls, making it the second fastest by an Indian in IPL history. He was eventually dismissed by Noor Ahmad after a brilliant display of power-hitting.
Arya, bought for 3.8 crore by PBKS, expressed his joy at his performance and credited captain Shreyas Iyer for encouraging him to play freely. With this win, PBKS moved up the points table while CSK continued to struggle. Arya’s blazing ton will be remembered as one of the highlights of the season.
