Punjab Kings made a bold move by giving all-rounder Priyansh Arya his Indian Premier League debut in their IPL 2025 season opener against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Arya rose to fame in 2024 during the Delhi Premier League when he hit six consecutive sixes in an over for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers, leading his team to a massive total of 308/5 with a remarkable 120-run innings that included 10 sixes and 10 fours. He reached his century in just 40 balls, marking his first century of the tournament.
During the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), Arya emerged as Delhi’s top run-scorer with 222 runs in seven innings at an average of 31.71 and a strike rate of 166.91. Despite being shortlisted for the IPL 2024 auction, Arya went unsold at the time. However, he recently scored his maiden SMAT hundred with 10 sixes against Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium.
Punjab Kings recognized Arya’s potential and secured his services for Rs 3.8 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. This move highlights the team’s confidence in Arya’s capabilities and talent, and fans are eager to see how he will perform on the big stage of the IPL. Arya’s explosive batting skills and impressive performances in domestic cricket have earned him a well-deserved spot in the IPL, and he is now ready to make a name for himself in the world of professional cricket.
