Prithvi Shaw, the Indian opener, did not find any takers at the IPL 2026 Auction, marking his second consecutive year without a spot in the league. Despite his recent good form, where he scored 183 runs in seven matches with a strike rate above 160 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025–26, Shaw failed to attract any bids. This adds to his disappointment from the previous year when he also went unsold at the IPL 2025 Auction.

Shaw, who has only played for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, has accumulated 1892 runs in 79 matches at an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 147.46. His absence from the league for another year raises questions about his future in the IPL and whether teams are willing to take a chance on him despite his recent performances.

The 26-year-old’s struggles in securing an IPL contract highlight the competitive nature of the auction and the uncertainties that players face in the world of professional cricket. Shaw will now have to regroup and focus on his performances in other domestic tournaments to showcase his skills and attract potential suitors in the future.
