Prashant Veer’s IPL value skyrocketed during the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi, as Chennai Super Kings secured him for a whopping Rs. 14.20 crore, which was 47.3 times his base price of Rs. 30 lakh. Despite early interest from Rajasthan Royals and a late challenge from Sunrisers Hyderabad, CSK managed to snag the Uttar Pradesh all-rounder.

Veer, a 20-year-old left-arm spinner and middle-order batsman, became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history with this deal. Shortly after, Kartik Sharma also joined him at the top of the list, as CSK acquired his services for the same price.

Having not played in the IPL before, Veer has shown promise in his 12 T20 matches, scoring 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 and taking 12 wickets at an economy rate of 6.45. He initially made a name for himself in the UP T20 League with Noida Super Kings and is seen as a potential replacement for the role previously held by Ravindra Jadeja at CSK.

The auction took place on December 16, 2025, marking a significant moment in Veer’s career as he prepares to make his debut in the upcoming IPL season with the Chennai Super Kings.
