Fans were left disappointed as Punjab Kings (PBKS) failed to secure a victory in their last home match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 71-run knock led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a seven-wicket win. Despite PBKS struggling, Kohli’s performance, which marked his 67th 50-plus score in the IPL, delighted fans. RCB chased down PBKS’ total of 157/6 to reach 159/3 in 18.5 overs, with Kohli and Devdutt Paddikal putting up a 103-run partnership. PBKS had previously won against Chennai Superkings and Kolkata Knight Riders at Mullanpur but suffered defeats to Rajasthan Royals and now RCB. The stadium was full of cheering fans, with PBKS supporters and Kohli fans in attendance. PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting praised Kohli’s match-winning knock, while fans expressed disappointment at the team’s inability to defend the total. The Mullanpur stadium will now host ICC Women’s Cricket ODI World Cup league games and the final in October and November.
