Punjab Kings are heading into the IPL 2026 mini-auction with only four spots to fill and a significant purse at their disposal. They are focusing on adding an explosive middle-order batter, a reliable backup keeper, and an extra Indian bowling option to their squad. With 21 players retained and five released, including Glenn Maxwell, PBKS have INR 11.50 crore left in their kitty, along with two overseas slots to fill.

Their potential targets include Michael Bracewell, who can provide the batting prowess and off-spin options lost with Maxwell’s departure. Jordan Cox is another target to provide depth without disrupting the batting order, while Kartik Sharma or Salil Arora could be considered for their performances in the SMAT tournament. Lastly, Akash Madhwal is being eyed as a backup Indian seamer to support Arshdeep Singh.

PBKS are strategizing to build a balanced team that can excel in various match-ups, aiming to avoid past mistakes and make a stronger impact in the upcoming season under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, as acknowledged by coach Ricky Ponting.
