The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 22 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens. RCB, under new captain Rajat Patidar, aims to start strong against defending champions KKR. Sunrisers Hyderabad will kick off their campaign against Rajasthan Royals the next day. KKR is yet to appoint a captain after releasing Shreyas Iyer, who joined Punjab Kings. The final is set to be held at the home city of the defending champions, Eden Gardens, on May 25. The BCCI has shared key dates with franchises, with the full schedule expected to be released soon. This season will feature matches in 12 venues, including Guwahati and Dharamsala. Rajasthan Royals will play two matches in Guwahati, while Dharamsala is expected to host at least two games. The knockout phase will see matches in Hyderabad and Kolkata. The schedule was revised to start on March 22 instead of March 23 as initially planned.
