Rishabh Pant has become the highest-paid Indian cricketer, surpassing Virat Kohli, after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for a record-breaking bid at the IPL 2025 auction. Shreyas Iyer also beat Rohit Sharma to take the third spot on the list despite not having a BCCI contract. Pant was signed for a whopping INR 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. With his Grade B category contract with BCCI worth INR 3 crore annually, Pant’s total earnings amount to INR 30 crore per year. He is expected to return to the Grade A category or even earn a promotion to A+ in the next contract list announcement.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer left behind Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in terms of earnings. Despite being removed from the BCCI contract list for disobeying the board’s mandate, Iyer secured a lucrative contract with Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive player in IPL history. Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, both in Grade A+ with BCCI, follow on the list with a combined earning of INR 25 crore after being retained by their IPL franchises for INR 18 crore. Hardik Pandya, retained by MI for INR 16.35 crore, and Rohit Sharma, retained for INR 16.30 crore, also feature on the list with Hardik in Grade A and Rohit in Grade A+ with BCCI. Overall, Pant and Iyer have emerged as top earners in the Indian cricketing scene, showcasing their value and impact on the field.
