Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) recently announced the appointment of Omkar Salvi as their new bowling coach for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The 46-year-old, who currently serves as the head coach of Mumbai, will be joining the franchise after his tenure with Mumbai ends in March 2025. Salvi has previously worked as an assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
RCB took to social media to share the news, stating that Salvi, who has a successful track record in domestic and IPL cricket, is looking forward to joining the team. This announcement comes after RCB appointed Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor for the 2025 season. Karthik and Salvi have previously worked together at KKR, and RCB hopes their partnership will help the team achieve success in the upcoming season.
Director of Cricket at RCB, Mo Bobat, expressed excitement about Salvi’s appointment, praising his expertise in developing fast bowlers and his success at both domestic and IPL levels. Salvi, who is the brother of former India pacer Avishkar Salvi, is highly regarded in the Indian domestic circuit for his coaching abilities.
In the past few years, Salvi has guided Mumbai to victories in the Ranji Trophy and the Irani Cup. Despite only playing one List A match in his career, Salvi has made a name for himself as a talented coach known for his behind-the-scenes work. His appointment as RCB’s bowling coach signifies the team’s commitment to strengthening their coaching staff and improving their performance in the upcoming season.
