Sunil Narine, known for his exceptional bowling skills in T20 cricket, surprisingly did not complete his quota of overs in a recent match for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This is a rare occurrence for the bowler with an impressive IPL record of 182 wickets and an economy rate of 6.75. In his 181 IPL matches since being bought by KKR in 2012, Narine has only failed to complete his four overs eight times when KKR bowled first.

The last instance of Narine not finishing his overs when KKR bowled first was against Chennai Super Kings on April 23, 2023. Despite starting well, Narine struggled against the onslaught of Mitchell Marsh and Nicolas Pooran, conceding runs and eventually being taken off after leaking 23 runs in two overs. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane explained that he opted for pace over spin due to Pooran’s aggressive batting, leading to Narine not completing his quota.

In a high-scoring match where KKR fell short by four runs chasing 239, Narine’s incomplete overs highlighted a rare occurrence in his otherwise consistent bowling performances. Despite this setback, Narine remains a key bowler for KKR, known for his wicket-taking ability and economy rate in the IPL.
