Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who was removed from the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) following a directive from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has signed a deal with Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars. The PSL franchise announced the direct signing on Thursday, welcoming Mustafizur back to the family. He will be earning significantly less at Lahore Qalandars compared to his IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders. Amid strained relations between India and Bangladesh, BCCI ordered KKR to release Mustafizur without explanation, leading to backlash from Bangladesh, including a ban on IPL broadcasts in the country. The BCB even requested the ICC to shift T20 World Cup matches out of India, but the plea was rejected. As a result, Bangladesh was removed from the World Cup, with Scotland named as a replacement. This will be Mustafizur’s second appearance in the PSL, having previously played for Lahore Qalandars in the 2017-18 season. He performed well, picking up four wickets in five matches at an impressive economy rate.
