Mumbai Indians has made a new addition to its squad for the IPL 2025 by signing Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman as a replacement for the injured Allah Ghazanfar. The deal sees Mujeeb joining MI for Rs. 2 crore, stepping in for Ghazanfar who was ruled out of the tournament due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra. This injury will keep Ghazanfar out of action for at least four months, causing him to miss the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 as well.

The 18-year-old Mujeeb, who was bought by MI for Rs. 4.80 crore, suffered the injury during Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe. This signing marks Mujeeb’s return to the IPL after missing the previous season due to an injury. Interestingly, Ghazanfar had replaced him in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad during that time.

Mujeeb has played 19 matches in the IPL so far, with his last appearance being for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021. Prior to that, he spent three seasons with Punjab Kings (PBKS). Known for making an instant impact with the ball, Mujeeb was one of the youngest ever players to represent Afghanistan. His impressive performances led to an IPL debut at just 17 years old.

With Mujeeb now joining Mumbai Indians, fans are eager to see how the talented spinner will contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming IPL season.
