Having clinched the IPL title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, Mumbai Indians are aiming to add another trophy to their collection. They were also the runners-up in 2010, sharing the record for the most trophies with the Chennai Super Kings, who also revealed their jersey on the same day.

In the previous season, Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, finished fourth in the league stage, securing a spot in the playoffs. However, they were knocked out by Punjab Kings in the Eliminator round.

To prepare for the upcoming season, players like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar participated in the DY Patil T20 Cup as part of their pre-season training. The team is expected to kick off their training camp around March 12-15, with overseas players joining post the T20 World Cup.
