Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey provided an update on skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury, stating that he is confident Gaikwad will recover in time for the team’s match against Delhi Capitals. However, if Gaikwad is unable to play, MS Dhoni may lead the side in his place. Gaikwad had suffered a blow to his right forearm during a previous match against Rajasthan Royals.

Hussey also addressed the decision to move Gaikwad from the opening slot to No. 3, explaining that it was the skipper’s choice. He mentioned that Gaikwad prefers batting at No. 3 as it allows him to handle the middle overs effectively.

Rahul Tripathi, who took over Gaikwad’s position at the top of the order, has struggled to make an impact so far. Despite this, Hussey expressed confidence in Tripathi’s abilities and hinted that the franchise would persist with him for the time being.

The team’s slow starts in the PowerPlay overs have been a concern, with CSK being the slowest scoring team in this phase. Hussey attributed this to the challenging bowling conditions at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium and remained optimistic about the team’s performance in upcoming matches.

Overall, Hussey emphasized the need for the team to stay calm and continue with their processes, trusting that they will improve as the conditions become more favorable. He acknowledged the strong bowling performances of their opponents and highlighted the importance of adapting to different conditions for better results.
